Recently, FINRA published guidance titled, “What You Should Know About Life Settlements,” in which they provide a helpful overview of life settlements, as well as some important items for a policyowner to consider before deciding to sell their policy.
One item highlighted in the guidance as a way for policyowners to protect themselves is by making sure their life settlement provider is licensed (or otherwise has the authority to operate) in their state.
